William D. (Bill) Slater, Jr., CPO/PI
President/CEO

Bill is the President/CEO of Handgun Safety Training Corporation and is a thirty-six year veteran of civilian and military law enforcement and security as well as a twenty-nine year veteran firearms and defensive tactics instructor. Bill received his Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B) from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in 1988, his Certified Protection Officer (CPO) designation from the International Foundation for Protection Officers (IFPO) in 1999 and served on the Board of Directors of the Texas Concealed Handgun Instructor Association (TCHIA) as a Director, Secretary and Executive Vice-President (1997-2004). Bill has trained thousands of U.S. Navy Master-at-Arms (Police Officers) as a firearms and defensive tactics instructor at the Naval Technical Training Center, Lackland AFB, Texas and served as Security Team Leader in the Anti-Piracy effort to protect commercial shipping vessels off the coast of Africa. Bill is also a licensed Private Investigator and Personal Protection Officer having conducted hundreds of investigations and high profile protective details including Super Bowl 51.
